Volvo V40 and baby XC60 going to Geneva

The Swedish based automaker Volvo is planning to develop a new model, named the V40, along with a baby XC60, which will be officially presented to the public at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
The name Volvo V40 has been used in the past by the car manufacturer and the model was successful but this article isn’t about that and the V40 name will be used again, this time on an entry level compact vehicle. According to the guys at autoblog.it, the V40 as it will be named will hit the production line in the nearby future, but before that, the model will debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March.
Our source is also telling us that the Volvo V40 will be developed on the P1 platform and the company is planning to sell 90.000 units of the model annually. The Volvo V40 is expected to be powered by a new family of four-cylinder engines VEA (Volvo Environmental Architecture), with displacements up to 2.0 liter petrol and diesel, which will be developing between 150 and 300 horsepower.
Besides the V40, Volvo is also planning to develop a new entry level SUV, which will be positioned below the XC60, and if this model actually hits the production line, it will be a major competitor to the Opel Mokka, the Ford EcoSport or the popular Nissan Juke. We don’t have any more details on these two models which will debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
